It may be a long shot, but just short hours after Zac Alley was announced to be leaving Oklahoma for West Virginia, the former four-star prospect in Lewis Carter entered the portal.
Carter has two years of eligibility remaining.
In his two seasons with the Sooners, he produced 30 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Carter did have a good relationship with Alley, but it is unknown at this time if that relationship was or is strong enough for Alley to pull Carter to the Big 12 with the Mountaineers.
Sunday is the final day for the winter portal window to be open for players who want to be eligible to play in 2025.
It is also important to be mindful that the NCAA Transfer Portal opens again in the spring, from April 16-25. Players whose head coaches leave also can enter the portal any time, as can graduate students.
